The BDC Women in Technology Fund (WIT) is a venture capital fund headquartered in Montreal, Canada. It was launched in 2017 by the state owned Business Development Bank of Canada (BDC). The fund invests specifically in technology companies developed and led by women. It also invests in other technology focused venture capital funds with at least one female partner.
BDC dedicated $70 million of capital to the fund when it launched in 2017 a partnership with the Canadian government's Women Entrepreneurship Strategy (WES). Together the BDC Women in Technology Fund and the WES aim to double the number of women owned businesses in Canada by 2025. In 2018, the Canadian government raised the fund's available capital amount to $200 million.
