Uralvagonzavod

The construction of Uralvagonzavod began in 1931 in Nizhny Tagil. In 1936, the first heavy-duty wagons rolled off the assembly line. In 1941, on the basis of the plant and 12 evacuated enterprises, the Ural Tank Plant No. 183 named after V.I. Comintern, which began to produce military products. In 1984, it received its modern name - Uralvagonzavod.

Uralvagonzavod develops and manufactures about 200 types of products: battle tanks, freight cars, tractors, excavators, tanks, trams and spare parts. The corporation includes about 40 research institutes, design bureaus and manufacturing enterprises. The general partners are the largest domestic transportation companies, as well as the Ministry of Defense and Rosobornexport. According to the American publication Defense News, Uralvagonzavod is one of the 100 largest military-industrial complexes in the world. The number of employees of Uralvagonzavod is about 28 thousand people.
