The United States Army Research Laboratory (also known as U.S. Army CCDC Army Research Laboratory) is located in Adelphi, Maryland and was activated in 1992. The organization is an element of the U.S. Army Combat Capabilities Development Command and part of the Army Futures Command. It researches technologies that advance the Army and its research is based on seven foundational research competencies as well as ten research programs. Some of its research competencies are computational sciences, human sciences, and propulsion sciences. Research programs have been established to study topics such as artificial intelligence for maneuver and mobility and electronic warfare in multi-domain operations.
