Ultra Safe Nuclear (USNC) is a Seattle-based company that has the goal to deploy small modular and space reactors to be utilized for energy consumption.
The company has a product trademarked as a "Micro Modular Reactor", which is a high-temperature, gas-cooled nuclear reactor. The fuel used for this reactor is known as "FCM". This fuel is comprised of grains of uranium inside silicon carbide. The reactor itself is fueled once in its lifetime of 20 years. Using this kind of energy eliminates carbon emissions and also maintains a stable cost for the use of energy as the product lasts for two decades. When the nuclear plant's life is over, the module can be removed and stored at a nuclear waste facility.
