Sydney Uni Flames is an Australian professional women's basketball club playing in the Women's National Basketball League (WNBL). The team is based in Sydney (New South Wales). The team is currently sponsored by the University of Sydney. Over its long history, the club has changed the name of the franchise the most, four times.
The club was founded in 1981 under the name "Bankstown Bruins", and the following year it played in the grand final, although then the team did not achieve great success. However, since 1993, the Flames have become one of the dominant teams in the league, largely due to the arrival of Robin Mar, Shelly Gorman and Tricia Fallon and head coaches Carrie Graf, Bill Tomlinson and Karen Dalton, the Sydney Junior Flames participated in the WNBL Grand Final thirteen times, winning in 1993, 1997, 2001 and 2017, as well as losing in the main meeting of the season in 1982, 1996, 1998, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2007 and 2008.
