Swiss International Airlines Flight 850

Swiss International Airlines Flight 850

Aviation accident

Swiss International Airlines, commonly called Swiss Air, was the national airline carrier of Switzerland. It was bankrupt following an ambitious global expansion strategy, the result of executing McKinsey & Co's infamous growth strategy. Swiss Air was sometimes referred to as 'the bank with wings' because it was fully capitalised and had excess cash on its balance sheet. Looking to grow, it embarked on an over ambitious global acquisition strategy and became illiquid.

Swiss Air Flight 850 refers to a flight that was unable to land at its designated airport and eventually crash landed at airport which was not its original destination. All 16 passengers survived, though one person suffered minor injuries.
