Overview
Sir William Stirling-Maxwell, 9th Baronet (born William Stirling on 8 March 1818 in Kirkintilloch) was a British politician, historian, virtuoso, and bibliographer. He held the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland's citizenship and was educated at Trinity College, Cambridge.
Sir William Stirling-Maxwell had two children, Sir John Stirling-Maxwell, the 10th Baronet, and Archibald Stirling, a British Army officer. In his lifetime, he was known under the alias William Stirling-Maxwell.
He died in Venice on 15 January 1878.
