The Securities Act of 1933, also known as the '33 Act, 1933 Act, Federal Securities Act, Securities Act, and Truth in Securities Act, is a key piece of legislation in the United States. The act was enacted by the United States Congress to provide "full and fair disclosure of the character of securities sold in interstate and foreign commerce and through the mails, and to prevent frauds in the sale thereof, and for other purposes". It was signed into law on May 27, 1933, by the President of the United States, and remains in effect.
