SciVentures Investment was a Melbourne based venture capital firm investing in pre-seed scientific technology companies. Dr. Gregory Smith co-founded the company in April 2002. It is one of the recipients of an Australian Federal Government license under its Pre-Seed Fund Program. It aimed to provide an economic boost to bring practical science products out of the lab and onto the global market. It would pursue the development of significant Australian start-up businesses from University and Federal government-owned research institutions. It focused on information technology, biotechnology, communications, and the clean energy sector. It made six investments and had one exit during its operation.
