An American entrepreneur and venture capitalist. He is a general partner at CRV and was named one of the top 8 venture capitalists by Forbes and one of the top 10 venture capitalists under the age of 36 by Venture Capital Journal.

Saar Gur has made early investments into the following companies: MileIQ (acquired by Microsoft), Oportun (formerly Progress Financial), Viki (acquired by Rakuten), Orchestra/Mailbox (acquired by Dropbox), Admob (acquired by Google for $750 million), Flixtster (acquired by Time Warner), Doordash, Patreon, Classpass, and Laurel & Wolf. He is also the co-founder of BrightRoll which was acquired by Yahoo. According to AngelList Saar Gur has made 32 investments and 17 exits. Saar Gur is married and has two children. 

Education

University of Wisconsin-Madison

From 1994 to 1998 Saar Gur attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison and graduated with a bachelor of science degree in biochemistry and molecular biology. 

Stanford Graduate School of Business

From 2001 to 2003 Saar Gur attended the Stanford Graduate School of Business and graduated with a master of business administration (MBA). 

Entrepreneurship

Saar Gur co-founded a dating service for company founders called FounderDating in 2011. In January 2006 Saar Gur co-founded a video advertising platform called BrightRoll, formerly known as Postroller. The company would later be acquired by Yahoo in 2014 for $640 million.  In July 2006 Saar Gur also co-founded carebadges.com. The company would later be acquired by Facebook Causes, and Saar Gur serves as an advisor for the company as of August 2019. 

Career

CRV

On March 2007 Saar Gur became a General Partner and venture capitalist for the venture capital firm CRV. Notable investments he has made as a General Partner at CRV are Doordash (seed), Patreon (seed), Ring (seed), Classpass (series A), Bird, Oportun, and Dropbox. Saar Gur has a quote on his profile page on the CRV website by Margaret Mead stating: 

Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it's the only thing that ever has.

StartupGarage

From September 2011 to March 2014 (2 years and 7 months), Saar Gur worked as an instructor for the StartupGarage program ran by the Stanford Graduate School of Business. 

Adteractive

From 2004 to August 2006 Saar Gur (2 years and 2 months), Saar Gur worked as the Vice President of customer acquisition for Aderactive. He helped build Aderactive to have over $160 million in revenue without any outside funding. 

Lehman Venture Capital & Lehman Brothers

From January 1999 to May 2001 (2 years ands 5 months), Saar Gur worked as a venture associate for Lehman Venture Capital. From May 1997 to January 1999 (1 year and 9 months), Saar Gur worked as a technology analyst for Lehman Brothers. 

Awards

Forbes names Saar Gur one of the top up and coming venture capitalists in 2012, and he was also named one of the top 10 venture capitalists under the age of 36 by Venture Capital Journal. Rob Mazzoni from TrueBridge Capital Partners wrote about Saar Gur in in a Forbes article by writing: 

At CRV, Gur has continued the trend of helping build great companies by backing entrepreneurs at Altius Education, Blippy, and Progress Financial from the earliest stages, while also getting involved in the firm’s investments in Twitter and Scribd. And those entrepreneurs love him. Because he’s walked in their shoes, Gur “gets it.” We’ve heard him described countless times as fantastic, extremely helpful, and always available. He has shown the chops to be a great investor, and we’re watching eagerly to see what he does next.
