Ross Bagdasarian Sr. (born Rostom Sipan Bagdasarian), also known as Ross Bagdasarian, Sr., was born on January 27, 1919 in Fresno, California and was an American actor, musician, singer-songwriter, composer, screenwriter, pianist, poet, and record producer. He was the creator of Alvin and the Chipmunks, a popular music group featuring animated characters. Ross Bagdasarian Sr. was the father of Ross Bagdasarian Jr., who continued the Chipmunks franchise after his father's death.
Ross Bagdasarian Sr.'s music often fell into the pop music genre, and throughout his career, he received a Grammy Award for Best Children's Album. Bagdasarian Sr. died on January 16, 1972, in Beverly Hills, California.
