Prateek Saxena is an Assistant Professor in the Computer Science Department at the National University of Singapore. Computer security and its intersection with formal methods and programming languages are his expertise.
He earned his Bachelor’s Degree, Computer Engineering at the University of Pune in 2004. He received his Master’s Degree in Computer Science at the Stony Brook University in 2007. And his Phd in Computer Science at the University of California, Berkeley in 2012.
Prateek Saxena and his students coined the term “data-oriented attacks”. It refers to cyber attacks that bypass state-of-the-art defenses deployed in computer systems today. This is one of his highly cited research projects and it fundamentally challenged the belief that most cyber attacks can be prevented if advanced defenses are mounted.
