PULA is an insurance technology company offering agricultural insurance to protect smallholders around the world that is headquartered in Molis, Glarus and was founded in 2014 by Rose Goslinga and Thomas Njeru. The company is offering agricultural insurance in Africa and Asia in the following countries: Kenya, Rwanda, Uganda, Nigeria, Ethiopia, and Malawi. PULA is working with a variety of organizations which include fortune 500 companies, global NGO's, microfinance institutions, research institutions, and governments.
On April 17, 2018 PULA completed their seed funding round with an undisclosed amount of funding from Accion Venture Lab (lead investor), Omidyar Network, Mulago Foundation, Choiseul Africa Capital, Mercy Corps’ Social Venture Fund, and several angel investors. The company plans on using the seed funding to invest in the development of its technology platform and to increase its service offerings. The CEO and co-founder of PULA, Rose Goslinga, made the following comments regarding the companies successful seed funding round:
