Nina Matvienko

Biography

Nina Matvienko was born on October 10, 1947 in the village of Nedelishche, Emilchinsky district, Zhytomyr region.

Family

Nina Matvienko was born into a large family. She was the fifth of 11 children. From the age of four, Nina Matvienko took care of her brothers and sisters, also helped with the household, grazed cattle, and one summer even worked as a laborer.

The singer's mother, Antonina Ilkovna, also had musical talent. She could sing in four voices. In the 70's Nina Matvienko recorded her mother's songs.

Personal life

In 1971, Nina Matvienko married artist Petro Gonchar. Then the couple had three children. Two years after the wedding, the son Ivan appeared in the family. In 1974, a second son, Andrei, was born. And in 1981 Antonina's daughter was born.
