Maslo is a Los Angeles-based mobile application company that uses voice recognition software to collect data from its user with the intended result of improving well-being.
The user first needs to download the mobile application, which is available for both Apple and Android devices. Then, the user can start his/her voice journaling experience. There are two main features that users can utilize to reflect on themselves.
The first feature prompts the user with a speaking topic. The user can choose to record his/her thoughts about the topic in the voice journal or tap on another icon to be presented with another similar topic. The intended goal here is to have the user record his/her thoughts about the topic for sixty seconds via voice journaling. Maslo's artificial intelligence then processes the recording using a neural network with the intention of finding patterns in emotions or topics. When the analysis is complete, the application presents an emotional summary of the voice entry along with an emoticon. The intended goal for this analysis is to aid its users in reflecting on their own emotions and habits.
The second main feature is a word cloud that shows the user the frequency with which he/she utters words and phrases. It is in this feature that the user can also see a list of their voice journaling entries and play them back if so desired.
