Video game. Magicka is a satirical action-adventure game set in a rich fantasy world based on Norse mythology

In the game, four magicians from the spiritual order fight against the evil wizard Grimnir and his creatures, but after the magicians find out that Grimnir is a "puppet" in the hands of Assatur - an evil demon who wants to destroy Midgard. The world of the game is based on Scandinavian mythology, and with many humorous references to the Warhammer game universe, to the series of books on Terry Pratchett's fictional universe "Discworld", the games Dungeon Keeper, Diablo, World of Warcraft, Neverwinter Nights, The Legend of Zelda, as well as the films Star Wars, 300 Spartans and Monty Python and the Holy Grail.

Magicka is an action-adventure game with isometric 3D stereoscopic graphics.

The player assumes the role of a wizard who wants to stop an evil sorcerer who wants to turn the world into a kingdom of chaos. The game campaign consists of 12 levels.

Unlike most role-playing games, there is no separation of characters by class in Magicka. Each hero is armed with a magic staff for casting spells and hand-to-hand weapons, reaching even to the point of absurdity. One of the variants of such a weapon is the Excalibur sword, located directly in the stone, in which it was enclosed at one time, and used as a kind of hammer. Another weapon that raises the degree of satire in the game is the M60 machine gun, "assembled by a local blacksmith on his knee from a paper clip and a shotgun," issued to the player by grateful residents for saving their native village.

Spells and Elements

The game contains 8 different elements, up to five of which can be used simultaneously in almost any combination: Water, Cold, Lightning, Earth, Fire, Shield, Death and Life.

Additionally, some pairs of elements are automatically converted into one new element occupying one slot:

The combination of Water and Fire creates an element of Steam

The combination of Water and Cold creates an element of Ice

Also, some elements are not compatible with each other, for example:

A combination of Water and Lightning - both disappear.

A combination of Life and Death - both disappear.

The combination of a Shield with a Shield - both disappear.

The combination of Lightning and Earth - both disappear.

The combination of Fire and Cold - both disappear.

In addition, if the magician's clothes are wet, selecting the Lightning element will cause an electric shock to the caster.

The spell casting system allows each player to pick up something of his own for any situation, in addition, each spell has 4 use cases - in the area around the magician, directed towards the mouse cursor, "at himself" or at his weapon.

Scrolls are scattered throughout the campaign levels, opening new combinations called magics, the elements of which are highlighted in the spell selection menu. For example, the "Rush" scroll, which allows the player to move quickly for a short time, is caused by a combination of Lightning + Death + elements Fire.
