Leonid Viktorovich Slutsky was born on May 4, 1971 in the city of Volgograd. As a child, he played in the children's football section of "Spartak". After graduating from school, he entered the city's Institute of Physical Culture. At the same time, he played for the youth team "Zvezda" as a goalkeeper. He showed great promise.But one day, while helping to get the cat out of the tree, he fell off and received numerous fractures and a concussion.This put an end to the sporting future of the young football player.In 1993, he takes his first steps as a coach. He gathers the "Olympia" team, which consisted of 12 year old boys. Many of them became professional football players in the future. In the period from 2001 to 2003, Leonid Slutsky coached "Uralan" double players and took second place with her in the double championship. After the main club flew out of the Premier League, he was appointed to the role of head coach. However, a year later the club due to financial problems lost his license. Then Slutsky was called to the "Moscow" football club for the role of coach of the second team, where he worked until 2005.In the 05/06 season, he was appointed head coach. According to the results of the 06/07 season, "Moscow" reached the final of the Russian Cup, where it lost to "Lokomotiv Moscow" only in extra time. In the Russian championship, the club took fourth place, which allowed the team to participate in the UEFA Cup. However , for unknown reasons, the "Moscow" leadership decided to terminate the contract with Slutsky, without waiting for its expiration date. Without work, Leonid Viktorovich did not remain long.In November 2007, he headed the samara`s "Kryla Sovietov". Under the guidance of a coach, the club played exactly for two seasons, however, after the defeat from "Terek Grozny", there were rumors that the match was agreed. Discord began in the "Kryla", which led to the departure of Slutsky of his own free will in October 2009.In the same year, he heads one of the leading clubs in the country, "CSKA". Immediately, Leonid Viktorovich led the army team for the first time in history in the playoffs of the Champions League. Taking second place in a difficult group led by Manchester United, CSKA successfully managed to overcome the 1/8 final stage,passing the "Sevilla". But already at the 1/4 stage, "Inter Milan" could not be beaten, losing in both matches with a minimum score. As a result, this was one of the best league results for the moscow club in history. In 2011, they won the Russian Cup and took second place in the championship .This trophy becomes the first in the career of a young coach. In 2012, "CSKA" took third place and Sluktsy submitted his resignation, but the management decided to leave the coach.And it was not a mistake. In November 2012, Slutsky signs a new agreement with the club. At the end of that season, CSKA once again takes the country's cup and becomes the champion one round before the end of the championship. They complete the treble, winning the match for the country's Super Cup, confidently beating St. Petersburg Zenit 3-0. In the 2013/14 season, the team performed unevenly, taking 4th place at the end of the first round of the championship and leaving the Champions League from the last place. In the summer of 2014, they won the "Russian Super Cup" again, beating "Rostov".In 2016, "CSKA" won the national championship for the sixth time in history. However, at the time of December 2017, the club was in 20th place with 19 points. Due to poor results the management fired Slutsky. The next year, he was invited to lead the h "Vitesse". The contract was for two years. Slutsky became the first Russian coach in Eredivisie. At the end of the 18/19 season, "Vitesse" took 5th place and reached the playoffs for the right to play in the Europe League, but lost to "Utrecht" in the last match and. On November 30, 2019, after a series of defeats of 5 matches, he resigned. On December 19, 2019, Slutsky headed the "Rubin Kazan".
