Kotak Investment Advisors is financial services provider and investment firm headquartered in Mumbai, India. It was launched in 2005 as the alternative assets group of Kotak Mahindra Bank Limited. The firm makes investments in a wide range of industries through five distinct funds. Its five funds are Kotak Private Equity Fund, Kotak Realty Fund, Kotak Infrastructure Fund, Kotak Listed Strategies, and Kotak Special Situations.
The Kotak Private Equity Fund invests in the life sciences, healthcare, media, entertainment, retail, fast food, business process outsourcing, and consumer internet based businesses.
The Kotak Realty Fund has raised 9 funds since its launch in 2005. It has made investments in the commercial office, residential, retail, industrial and hospitality sectors. In 2020, it was reported on the companies website that the funds aggregate capital commitments total $1.8 billion.
The Kotak Infrastructure Fund was developed by Kotak as a vehicle for foreign investors to gain access to the Indian infrastructure market. It makes investments in the power generation and transmission, transportation (roads, ports and airports), water treatment and supply, waste management and gas transmission, and logistics sectors.
Kotak Listed Strategies is focused on long term wealth creation. It invests in mid market Indian companies through public equity. It launched its initial fund, referred to as the India Whizdom Fund (IWF) in 2016.
The Kotak Special Situations invests in the Indian stressed assets market through debt, equity and mezzanine instruments.
