Karakerey Kabanbay-batyr (Kazakh Karakerey Kabanbay batyr; real name - Erasyl; 1692 in the current Urzhar region of the East Kazakhstan region - 1770, buried there ) - Kazakh batyr. Karakerey Kabanbay-batyr - one of the organizers of the national liberation struggle of the Kazakhs against the Dzungarian conquerors, a commander and a duel. The well-known orientalist and historian Mashkhur Zhusup Kopeev said: “The Kazakhs did not have a batyr like Karakerey Kabanbay.”
Kabanbay-batyr comes from the branch "Bayzhigit" of the clan "Karakerey" of the tribe "Naiman", was awarded the title "Khan batyry" (Bogatyr Khan). He was engaged in a peacekeeping mission, ruled the court in the society of the steppes . Historical epics (zhyr) “Er Kabanbay”, Kissa Kabanbay and others were composed about Kabanbay-batyr.
In 1691, a boy was born in the family of batyr Kozhagul, who was named Erasyl - "noble faithful." As a teenager, he was ahead of many of his peers in physical development and received the nickname Narbala, that is, "a tall youth" . In his youth, he accomplished a feat on the banks of the Zaisan, killing wild boars that attacked people with a spear, after which his people begin to call him nothing more than Kabanbai.
When the Dzungarian conquerors invaded the Kazakh steppes, Kabanbai's father died. And he devoted his whole life to the fight against the invaders. At the age of 16, Kabanbay defeated the Dzungarian hero, the formidable Dolan Dashi, in a duel. Then in the life of the young warrior there were such bloody and memorable battles as Ayagoz, Alakul and Bulantin.
At the head of the Kazakh detachments, Kabanbai, together with other batyrs Bogenbai-batyr and Yer-Zhanibek, liberated the cities of Sairam, Tashkent, the territory of East Kazakhstan from the Dzhungars. Most of his life, Kabanbai-batyr spent in the saddle of a war horse. During this time, he took part in 103 battles for liberation from the enemies of his native land and did not lose in any of them. And in fierce fights he defeated 54 opponents. He was distinguished by extraordinary physical strength, according to legend, he lifted a horse (half a ton) on his shoulders.
Hero of the Kazakh national liberation movement. He began his career as an ordinary soldier, gradually climbing the ladder of the military hierarchy: commander of a detachment (zhuzbasy), regiment (mynbasy), large formations (tumenbasy). In 1723, Kabanbay was appointed head of defense of the holy city of Turkestan, the capital of the Kazakh Khanate. Led the Kazakh army in a number of strategically important battles:
