John R. Pierce

John R. Pierce , also known as John Robinson Pierce , was born on March 27, 1910, in Des Moines, Iowa . He was an engineer, writer, and novelist , and held United States citizenship . Pierce was educated at the California Institute of Technology , and one of his doctoral students included Daniel Levitin .

Besides using his real name, John R. Pierce also wrote under the pseudonym J. J. Coupling . He fathered a child named John J. Pierce . Pierce passed away on April 2, 2002, in Sunnyvale, California . His contributions in the field of engineering led him to receive the honor of being inducted into the National Inventors Hall of Fame in 2003 .
