JBL Charge 5

JBL - James Bullough Lansing is an American company producing acoustics and audio equipment; is part of Harman International Industries, which includes numerous audio companies and is itself a subsidiary of Samsung Electronics.

The JBL Charge 5 delivers legendary JBL sound with an optimized long-throw driver, separate tweeter and two JBL signature passive bass radiators.

The main task of any speaker system is to reproduce music content in a quality manner. BL Charge 5 boasts two speakers. One of them, 52 × 90 mm in size, is designed to reproduce low and medium frequencies. The second has a diameter of only 20 mm. This is a tweeter designed to operate in the high frequency range.

The column is equipped with a fairly powerful lithium-polymer battery with a capacity of 27 Wh. According to the manufacturer, the used battery is enough for continuous operation of the speaker for up to twenty hours.

The JBL Charge 5 has two USB ports. The Type-C port is designed to charge the built-in battery, while the standard full-size Type-A port is for connecting and recharging external devices. With the help of the latter, this column can be turned into a full-fledged external battery or used to replenish the energy of a smartphone from which music is played.

The JBL Charge 5 does not have an audio input for a wired connection. But there is a modern Bluetooth 5.1 module with A2DP 1.3 and AVRCP 1.6 profiles.

This model implements the PartyBoost function, with which you can combine an unlimited number of speakers in the signal duplication mode. In addition, this feature allows you to use two compatible speakers in stereo sound.

All new generation JBL portable audio systems feature IP67 water and dust resistance. With the JBL Charge 5 column, nothing will happen, nothing terrible will happen either in the desert, or in the pool or on the beach.

The column is made in the form of a small barrel. The end parts are made of silicone, and their central parts with large exclamation marks are passive radiators. They take part in the formation of sound and vibrate effectively while playing low frequencies at high volumes.

The main part of the body is covered with a woven material with a large weave. At the bottom of the case there is a flat platform with silicone strips applied to it. They securely fix the device while playing music.

On the front of the case there is a huge brand logo and a vertical LED indicator informing the user about the state of charge of the built-in battery.

On top is a control unit consisting of six buttons, two of which - power and put Bluetooth into search mode - have a white backlight. All other buttons are used to control volume and playback.

There are two USB ports on the back. The USB-C port is sealed and can be flooded with water without consequences. But the USB-A port does not have its own sealed housing, and therefore the manufacturer had to make a plug for it.

Thanks to a pair of speakers, this speaker perfectly copes with music of different genres and styles, its purpose is to create an atmosphere and a great mood at a meeting with friends, a sports field, training or just a country picnic.
