Intrinsiq Materials was a company manufacturing highly functional electronic inks. It was founded in 2007 and had its headquarters in Rochester, New York. The company was acquired by Novacentrix in 2018. Intensiq Material's nanoparticle inks served the printed electronics industry through a variety of electronic ink, including screen-printable, inkjet copper ink, silicon inkjet, and nickel inkjet. The company's inks were used in printed circuit boards, solid-state lighting, photovoltaics, biosensors, and aerospace applications, such as nano phosphors and thermoelectric materials.
On November 1st, 2018, NovaCentrix announced it had acquired the technical and business-related intellectual property (IP) of Intrinsiq Materials in an asset sale by the company's investors. IP from both the original location in the UK and the Rochester, New York, facilities were included in the acquisition. Intrinsiq Materials' chief scientist, chemist and copper inks expert Dr. Michael Carmody, joined the NovaCentrix team as part of the acquisition. About the acquisition, NovaCentrix Chief Marketing Office Stan Farnsworth stated:
We are committed to supporting the existing customers of the copper ink technology previously offered by Intrinsiq Materials... Additionally, this proven copper-based inks technology provides a powerful expanded set of capabilities for our customers. With continued refinement this copper ink technology will increasingly meet opportunities in emerging applications as well as existing traditional electronics markets.
