Intercom is a technology company developing and providing a communications platform for web and mobile businesses to interact with customers that is headquartered in San Francisco, California and was founded in 2001 by Ciaran Lee, David Barret, Des Taylor, and Eoghan McCabe. The Intercom customer relationship management platform offers lead generation, customer engagement, and customer support tools. Seed

On January 25, 2012 Intercom completed their seed funding round with $1 million in funding from Andy McLoughlin, Dan Martell, 500 Startups and Digital Garage. 

Series B

On January 22, 2014 Intercom completed their series B funding round with $23 million in funding from Bessemer Venture Partners (lead investor) and The Social+Capital Partnership. At the time off announcing their series B funding, Intercom also announced it will be appointing Ethan Kurzweil, a partner at Bessemer Venture Partners, to the company's board. Intercom's CEO and co-founder, Eoghan McCabe made the following comment regarding what the company is planning to do with their series B funding:

With this fresh capital we're going to bring our innovation to a whole new level, on new platforms, and in new markets. We're thrilled to have the support of Bessemer and Ethan in this endeavor.

Series A

On June 19, 2013 Intercom completed their series A funding round with $6 million in funding from The Social+Capital (lead investor), Freestyle Capital, and David Sacks. The company plans on using their series A funding for product development. 

Series C

On August 26, 2015 Intercom completed their series C funding round with $35 million in funding from Iconiq Capital (lead investor), The Social+Capital, and Bessemer Venture Partners. The company plans on using their series C funding to increase sales and support products. 



On April 7, 2016 Intercom expanded their series C funding round with 450 million in funding from Index Ventures (lead investor), Iconiq Capital, Bessemer Venture Partners and The Social+Capital. At the time of expanding their series C funding round the co-founder and CEO of Intercom, Eoghan McCabe told reporters the company is 'fully funded' and will not be seeking to raise money in the future. 

Series D

On March 26, 2018 Intercom completed their series D funding round with $125 million in funding from Kleiner (lead investor), Perkins (lead investor), Caufield (lead investor), Byers (lead investor), and Google Ventures. Intercom is planning on using the funding to increase sales and grow the company.
