Ingvar Helgason is the founder and CEO of biomanufacturer, Vitrolabs. He was born in 1980 in Reykjavik, Iceland. He studied fashion and fashion management in Copenhagen before co-founding London fashion venture, Ostwald Helgason, with Susanne Ostwald in 2006. In 2008, he started a cloud based fashion enterprise resource planning platform WOAH, which was sold to private equity firm in 2017 and rebranded as Stitchex.com.
After he encountered difficulties finding ethically sourced leather goods for this fashion design, Helgaso started Vitrolabs in February 2016. Vitrolabs manufactures lab grown cow, ostrich, and crocodile leather from stem cells.
