Harbor (blockchain)

Harbor is a company developing and providing a decentralized compliance protocol for standardizing cryptocurrency (tokenized) securities.

Harbor is a blockchain company in the security token space which provides a decentralized protocol in order to establish and maintain standardization for tokenized securities.

The company's mission is to improve accessibility, value, and liquidity of tokenized securities such as commercial real estate, investment funds, and more.

One of the ways that Harbor can make investments more accessible is through fractional ownership of securities, which is made possible by tokenization. For example, a commercial real estate building can be tokenized and multiple investors can purchase tokens representing partial ownership of the building. This decreases investment minimums so that more people can participate in the market, improving liquidity as well.

History

Harbor was founded in September, 2017 in San Francisco, California. The company's founding team consists of Chief Executive Officer Joshua Stein, Chief Technology Officer Bob Remeika, and Chief Product Officer Arisa Amano.

Harbor has gone through 3 rounds of funding, receiving contributions from more than a dozen investor groups including Andreesen Horowitz and Pantera Capital.
