Franz Josef Strauss (born September 6, 1915, in Munich and died October 3, 1988, in Regensburg) was a German politician and an important figure in the development of the aerospace industry. Strauss was educated at Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich and held German citizenship.
He is best known as the founder of Airbus, an established European aircraft manufacturer. In addition, Strauss was the father of Monika Hohlmeier, a prominent German politician.
