Emanuel (Manny) J. Friedman and his wife Kindy French founded Emanuel J. Friedman Philanthropies after years of actively engaging in philanthropic activities as a way to focus their efforts. Emanuel J. Friedman Philanthropies is funded by Emanuel J. Friedman Capital LLC; an investment management firm also founded by Emanuel J. Friedman.
Emanuel J. Friedman Philanthropies is focused on funding and supporting: the creation of a healthier and more efficient food system; vibrant Jewish communities; educational and health care opportunities for children living in Washington, DC; veterinary research and animal shelters; and wildlife conservation. Emanuel J. Friedman Philanthropies also funds projects it considers "of special interest" such as the Aspen Institute Future of Work Initiative, Halcyon Incubator, and Catholic Charities.
