DragonChain is a commercial block chain technology. It started out as the Disney Private Blockchain Platform in 2015 in Disney's Seattle office, and was later released as an open source software under Apache 2 license. It is designed to be a business ready blockchain ecosystem that features a scalable, serverless platform, an incubator supported by experts and blockchain enthusiast, and marketplace integration of smart contracts, vendors, specialized experts and incubated projects.
The Dragonchain cryptocurrency is called Dragons. Initially, a total of 433,494,437 Dragons are created and distributed between 2 October and 2 November 2017. Dragonchain paused its pre-sale on the last day, and refunded some investors from their ICO.
In April 2018, DragonChain was rebranded as a cryptocurrency, marketplace, platform, and technology incubator. The platform supports different programming languages to create decentralized smart contracts with AWS support.
Dragonchain's platform was released August 1, 2018.
On September 10, 2018, Dragonchain released several new products: Takara for monthly price-stabilized cryptocurrency purchases, DragonNet blockchain verification, DragonDen cryptocurrency social-media platform, Marketplace gig economy and freelancer platform. Dragon announced DragonScale arbitrator and blockchain technology incubator, and Dragon Days of Slumber Score, which will grant token holders privileges based on token balance and their length of holding.
