Dot Edu Ventures invests during the seed stage of technology startups frequently developing out of colleges and research centers. These startups are often in the fields of computer science, electrical and mechanical engineering, mathematics, physics and bioengineering. They have likewise supported new companies from non academic settings.
The company was established in 2000 and is situated in Palo Alto, California. They describe themselves as a university-based network of friends, spreading over computer science, design, engineering, faculty, students and alumni from different US universities. Established in March 2000 by Asha Jadeja and her late spouse Rajeev Motwani, Dot Edu started as a little gathering of pioneering friends at Stanford and UC Berkeley. It is now composed of people from various universities such as CMU, MIT, University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign, U Penn, Princeton, Washington University, UC San Diego and UC Santa Barbara.
