Decentraland is a blockchain-based virtual reality platform for artists, gamers, students, and online communities that is powered by the Ethereum blockchain. It enables users to create and monetize their virtual reality content and applications. Users use the cryptocurrency used for payments on Decentraland called MANA to buy empty land parcels (10 meters by 10 meters) within the Decentraland environment, and allow users to build virtual environments within these plots of land upwards without any limit. Decentraland uses the Ethereum blockchain to maintain a record of ownership, store information, and store content for its users creating virtual reality environments using the Decentraland platform. Every transaction on Decentraland is validated through Ethereum smart contracts.
