Deaconess Health System is a health care service provider headquartered in Evansville, Indiana. The hospital system was originally founded in 1892 by group of Protestant minsters. It provides health care services to 26 counties in Indiana, Illinois, and Kentucky through 11 hospitals, 96 provider locations, and 538 health care service providers.
In March 2020, Deaconess Health System started welcoming donations of homemade face masks due to high demand and supply chain issues. The hospital system offered written and video instructions on how community members could sew fabric masks to meet CDC guidelines. Due to an outpouring of responses, Deaconesss organized a database to connect face mask makers with other organizations in need of face masks.
