Crowberry Capial is a venture capital and private equity firm investing in seed and early-stage companies that is headquartered in Reykjavík, Iceland and was founded in 2017 by Hekla Arnardottir, Helga Valfells, and Jenny Ruth Hrafnsdottir.
Notable investments made by Crowberry Capital include: Travelade, Kara, Aldin, 1939, Elsa, Monerium, Kind, Lucinity, Avo, Mainframe, and several undisclosed investments in companies in sectors such as sustainability technology and enterprise SaaS.
On July 13, 2017 Crowberry Capital announced raising $48 million for their first venture capital fund. The firm plans on using the fund to invest in 15 startups, and plans on the fund having a lifetime between 7-10 years. The co-founder and general partner of Crowberry Capital, Helga Velfells, made the following statement regarding the funds investors:
We’ve been working on preparing and raising the fund since December 2016, and are grateful for the trust our investors have shown us. Our investors are both individuals and pension funds, with individuals contributing around 20% of the fund, and pension funds 80%.
