Cognizant is an American multinational information technology company offering professional consulting services that is headquartered in Teaneck, New jersey and was founded in 1994 by Francisco D'Souza, Kumar Mahadeva, and Lakshmi Narayanan.



Cognizant offers consulting services for the following industries: banking, capital markets, communications, consumer goods, education, healthcare, information services, insurance, life sciences, manufacturing, media & entertainment, oil & gas, retail, technology, transportation & logistics, travel & hospitality, and utilities. The company offers it's consulting services under three broad categories:



  1. Cognizant Digital Business — artificial intelligence, digital product engineering, digital strategy, interactive, and internet of things (IOT).
  2. Cognizant Digital Operations — enterprise services, industry & platform solutions, intelligent process, and automation.
  3. Cognizant Digital Systems & Technology — application services, cloud enablement, cognizant infrastructure services, cognizant security, core modernization, digital product engineering, enterprise application services, and quality engineering & assurance.

Cognizant said it was entering into exclusive negotiations to buy the French operations of El-Technologies, a digital consulting and Salesforce specialist, for an undisclosed sum. The IT company will add about 345 employees in France. The transaction requires consultation with the relevant works council and would be subject to closing conditions.
