Their investment decisions are in part driven by Helio, which they offer to portfolio companies as a perk to partnership.

In May 2013, CircleUp raised $7.5 million in their Series A led by Union Square Ventures. Google Ventures, Rose Park Advisors, Maveron, and David Topper participated in the round.
CircleUp raised $14 million for their March 2014 Series B. The round was led by Canaan Partners, with participation from Google Ventures, Union Square Ventures, Maveron and Rose Park Advisors.
In November 2015, CircleUp raised $30 million for their Series C. The round was led by Collaborative Fund with participation from Nigel Morris, Thomson Reuters, the Stanford Endowment, Union Square Ventures, Canaan Partners, Maveron and Rose Park Advisors.
In September 2019, CircleUp riased $200 million in debt financing to aid their credit division. Michigan's state pension fund and Pacific Life participated in the round.
