CircleUp Growth Fund

CircleUp Growth Fund is an investment platform focused on early stage consumer product investments, credit facilities and their machine learning platform Helio.

CircleUp is a San Francisco, California based venture capital and credit firm. They offer equity investments or credit solutions for companies. They use Helio, their machine learning platform, to gain proprietary market insights and use their industry network to help portfolio companies compete and grow.

Helio

Helio is CircleUp's machine learning platform designed to spot innovative assets. They gather data from publicly available sources, through various relationships and from entrepreneurs. The data is then normalized and classified into over 100 categories.

Credit

CircleUp offers working capital. Their APR is between 14% to 25%, between $20,000 to $3 million and with a free exit at no penalty. Their loan evaluation is in part driven by Helio.

Equity

CircleUp offers equity investments to companies they feel are offering innovative products, with a strong leadership team and revenue of $1 to $15 million while raising $1 to $10 million. Their investment decisions are in part driven by Helio, which they offer to portfolio companies as a perk to partnership.

CircleUp has made equity investments in Kosas, peach, Cali'flour Foods, Function of beauty, Mented Cosmetics, Fort Point Beer Company, The Good Crisp Company, Winky Lux, HUM, Nut Pods, Heyday, Liquid I.V., The Coconut Cult, 4505 Meats, Pop & Bottle, NomNomNow, Barnana and Wild Friends Foods.

Funding

Seed

In April, 2012, CircleUp raised $1.5 million for their seed round from Yan-David Erlich, Silas Capital, Rose Park Advisors, Ooga Labs, Maveron, Jerry Gramaglia and David Topper.

Series A

In May 2013, CircleUp raised $7.5 million in their Series A led by Union Square Ventures. Google Ventures, Rose Park Advisors, Maveron, and David Topper participated in the round.

Series B

CircleUp raised $14 million for their March 2014 Series B. The round was led by Canaan Partners, with participation from Google Ventures, Union Square Ventures, Maveron and Rose Park Advisors. 

Series C

In November 2015, CircleUp raised $30 million for their Series C. The round was led by Collaborative Fund with participation from Nigel Morris, Thomson Reuters, the Stanford Endowment, Union Square Ventures, Canaan Partners, Maveron and Rose Park Advisors.

Debt Financing

In September 2019, CircleUp riased $200 million in debt financing to aid their credit division. Michigan's state pension fund and Pacific Life participated in the round.
