Chain is blockchain and software development company developing the Chain Sequence platform that is headquartered in San Francisco, California and was founded 2014 by Adam Ludwin and Devon Gundry. The Chain Sequence platform that enables financial companies to build and deploy bitcoin solutions such as apps. Features of this platform includes the Chain Core and Chain Sandbox, both of which are used in enterprise-grade production and prototyping.

Seed

On January 1, 2014 Chain closed their seed funding round with $4.2 million in funding from RRE Ventures (lead investor), Thrive Capital, SV Angel, Firestartr, BoxGroup, Betaworks, and Semil Shah. 

Series B

On September 9, 2015 Chain announced they closed their series B funding round with $30 million in capital from RRE Ventures, Visa, NASDAQ, Pantera Capital, Orange Digital Ventures, Fiserv, Draft Ventures, Citi Ventures, and Capital One Growth Ventures.

Chain releases Ivy, a smart contract language that compiles to Bitcoin Script

Ivy is released as an open-source project developed by Chain. Ivy is a high level language for writing smart contracts that compiles to the Bitcoin Script, which is a low level language used by relatively few programmers.
