Balance is an open source blockchain and Ethereum platform that was founded in 2016 by Richard Burton, Ben Baron, and Christian Baroni and is headquartered in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, New York. The platform is split into two parts; a web interface, and a cryptocurrency wallet.
The web interface is called the 'Balance Manager', and it allows users to view and send their ERC20 tokens by connecting with MetaMask, Ledger, and Trezor. The Balance manager is powered by Shapeshift and the 0x protocol. The Balance Wallet is a mobile Ethereum wallet for IOS and Android. It allows users to interact with dApps through its built in QR code scanner that is powered by the WalletConnect Standard. The storage and exchange of tokens on the Balance Wallet is powered by ShapeShift, 0x, Oasis, and Kyber.
On September 16, 2017 Balance raised a round of crowdfunding to further development of its platform. The company raised $1,365,304 from 1454 people and had a company valuation of $10 million.
