AudioFocus is a technology company founded by Shariq Mobin that is building a mobile application for helping users hear the voices of friends and family in noisy places. Their technology works with mobile devices and in-ear earbuds to isolate the voices of particular individuals from the surrounding environmental noise. According to the companies website their application is currently available for only Android devices.
The AudioFocus mobile applications keeps all data encrypted, does not shares data with third parties, and does not store any audio data. The only time voice data is stored on the AudioFocus platform is when it's voluntarily contributed through the companies contribution page.
Before founding AudioFocus, Shariq Mobin was an audio neuroscientist experimenting with how to help people learn how to hear better using machine learning. During his Ph.D he worked on studying deep learning models related to sound and the science of hearing loss with support from University of California Berkeley and google Brain.
