Anthony "Pomp" Pompliano Jr. (born June 15, 1988), who is best called as Pomp, is an American entrepreneur, investor, Bitcoin Evangelist, and U.S. Army veteran.
Among other things, Pompliano has invested over $100 million in early-stage technology companies, ran growth teams at Snapchat and Facebook, and co-founded investment firms Full Tilt Capital and Morgan Creek Digital Assets.
Most people simply call him “Pomp.” Pomp currently manages an investment portfolio valued at more than $500 million, including investments in many of the largest companies across the bitcoin and crypto industry.
He is the host of The Pomp Podcast (formerly Off The Chain). Pomp uploads videos of interviews and personal opinions particularly with a focus on technology and finance.
He is also known for The Pomp Letter, a regular newsletter that addresses topics like technology and cryptocurrency.
Anthony Pompliano graduated from Cardinal Gibbons High School. After high school, he attended Bucknell University where he received his Bachelor of Arts double majoring in economics and sociology.
Anthony served in the U.S. Army as a sergeant from March 2006 to August 2012. During his service, Pomp was deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom (2008-2009).
He was The Distinguished Leader Graduate of the Warrior Leader Course and a Commandant’s List Graduate of Infantry Leadership School.
In January 2013, Pomp founded Digaforce, a social media intelligence platform for demographic information based on unfiltered, social content. The company was acquired in December 2013 by Strategic Link Partners.
He then joined Facebook in 2014 to lead the Growth & Engagement team for Facebook Pages. In August 2015, Pomp was recruited to start and lead the Growth Team at Snapchat.
Full Tilt Capital, an early-stage venture capital fund, was founded by Pomp and Jason Williams in August 2016. They invested in 22 deals in the first 90 days of the fund.
Full Tilt Capital was acquired by Morgan Creek Capital Management in Q1 2018. In April 2018, Anthony became the Co-founder and Partner of Morgan Creek Digital Assets, a multi-strategy investment firm focused on providing access to blockchain technology and digital assets for institutional clients and wealthy family offices, alongside Mark Yusko and Jason Williams.

Pompliano is actively engaged in investing within the cryptocurrency space. According to his personal website, he “started to invest more seriously in 2015”. His LinkedIn page also reads:

On June 24, 2019, Pompliano predicted that Bitcoin would likely hit $100,000 by December 31, 2021. As a point of reference, Pompliano recalled that Bitcoin cost $6,770 on August 24, 2018.
In July 2020, Pompliano convinced comedian Bill Burr to buy Bitcoin. In a July 1 episode of the Bill Bert Podcast, Pompliano discussed the “fundamentals of currency, bank fugazi, and Bitcoin” with Bill Burr and his co-host Bert Kreischer.
Pompliano shared his opinion as to the reason for the popularity and future of bitcoin.
The reason people are so excited about bitcoin is that no one can print it. No one has control over it. At some point the U.S. dollar isn’t going to be the world’s reserve currency. I believe that at some point, whether it’s in 10, 20, or 50 years’ time, bitcoin will be the world’s reserve currency. Pompliano argued that all previous world reserve currencies had collapsed eventually.
In August 2020, BlockFi – a crypto asset service provider – raised $50 million in a Series C funding round led by Morgan Creek Capital. Subsequently, Pompliano joined BlockFi’s board of directors.
In January 2021, in an interview with Stansberry Research, Pompliano outlined how Bitcoin could eventually reach $1 million.
At the same time, he pointed out that Bitcoin has “tons and tons of volatility” that “scares a lot of people”. He added that investors need to be ready for this volatility if they want to benefit from Bitcoin’s potential ascent.
Pompliano actively advocates Bitcoin on Twitter as well. In a February 13, 2021, tweet, he said:

A day earlier, Pompliano announced that Jay-Z and Jack Dorsey would be donating 500 Bitcoin to create ₿trust to fund Bitcoin development, with an initial focus on teams in Africa and India. “Two GOATs doing GOAT things,” he remarked.
Pompliano has also commented on the long-term potential of Bitcoin as follows:
The Bitcoin and crypto industry is the most asymmetric investment opportunity in any market. It either disrupts and rebuilds the entire system or it is worthless. I like our chances.
Pompliano has also done several noted interviews with macro investing legend Raoul Pal, in which the two discuss their mutual bullishness on crypto and specifically Bitcoin.
