Prior to joining the team at St. David's Medical Center, Dr. Natale was part of the Cardiovascular Medicine Department at Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, where he served as Section Head for the Department of Cardiac Pacing and Electrophysiology and Medical Director for Cleveland Clinic's Center for Atrial Fibrillation.
Dr. Natale holds patents on several life-saving medical devices, including a device used to treat atrial fibrillation. Dr. Natale's major research interests include Clinical Cardiac Electrophysiology, mechanisms of defibrillation, signal-averaging, ablation treatment of supraventricular arrhythmias, the effects of thrombosis on platelet aggregation, and TxA2 metabolites production in patients with unstable angina and post-myocardial infarction.
The Federal Drug Administration (FDA) appointed Dr. Andrea Natale to its Task Force on Atrial Fibrillation in 2006.
Dr. Natale's research and medical prowess can be seen in hundreds of published articles in medical journals. He also sits on the editorial board of several medical journals. He is Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Interventional Cardiac Electrophysiology. He also founded the Journal of Atrial Fibrillation, an open-access journal with a special focus on physician and patient education.
