Alpine Quantum Technologies is a quantum computing company formed by three physicists from University of Innsbruck and the Institute of Quantum Optics and Quantum Information of the Austrian Academy of Sciences.
The company’s technology involves the use electric fields to trap single charged atoms inside vacuum chambers. Each ion represents a quantum bit or qubit, which are measured by precisely timed laser pulses. Achievements by the company include scalable Shor algorithm, topologically encoded quantum error correction, quantum chemistry calculations and world record in 14-particle entanglement.
