Alex Shevchenko

An entrepreneur most known for co-founding Grammarly. He resides in San Francisco, California. 

Alex Shevchenko is a San Francisco-based entrepreneur who together with Max Lytvyn co-founded the proofreading software Grammarly.

Background and Education

Shevchenko was born in the Ukraine and went to college at International Christian University in Austria, where his classes were conducted in English. He furthered his studies at Rotman School of Management in Toronto, Canada, where he studied for his Master's of Business Administration. Shevchenko is fluent in English, Russian, and Ukrainian.

Entrepreneurship

In 2006, Shevchenko was still studying in Toronto when he created the technology for and founded the company MyDropBox, which is used to check academic works for plagiarism.The technology was used by more than 800 universities in 2007 and was sold to Blackboard Inc in the same year.



Shevchenko started his next company in 2009. He founded Grammarly, a software that can proofread texts for spelling errors, grammar mistakes, and improvements for style and tone. As of 2019, the company has raised $110 million in funding.
