Acquisition of Postmates by Uber

In a bid to expand its share of the U.S. food delivery market, Uber made an acquisition offer for San Francisco-based Postmates. The deal was announced by Uber on July 6, 2020.

At the time of the acquisition, Uber said it will continue to operate Postmates as a separate brand, but Postmates will utilize certain infrastructure and driver capacity developed by Uber. The transaction will need to be approved by U.S. regulators and is expected to be finalized in Q1 2021.
