The Giving Block offers a platform for nonprofits to accept cryptocurrency donations and for individuals to donate tax efficiently. It was acquired by Shift4payments. The crypto donation solution offers an ecosystem in which nonprofits and charities can fundraise bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies, be discovered by crypto donors, receive funds, and be included in a group of crypto media partners for mission support.
In March 2022, The Giving Block and Shift4 launched #CaringWithCrypto, a crypto philanthropy campaign. This was to mark the platform's acquisition by Shift4, and Shift4's CEO Jared Isaacman was slated to match $10M in cryptocurrency donations to nonprofits on The Giving Block.
On March 30, 2022, The Giving Block announced the launch of The Giving Block Institutional, created to offer personalized solutions to institutional clients. This was done as a result of an escalation in demand from organizations interested in receiving cryptocurrency donations. The team will focus on creating personalized products and solutions for foundations, as well as Donor Advised Funds (DAFs) and other charitable organizations.
