In September 2013, SpaceX increased the size of the manufacturing space and configured it to produce at a rate of 40 rocket cores per year and utilize 400 engines annually. In October 2014, SpaceX announced the 100th Merlin 1D engine had been manufactured, and the manufacturing capabilities had been increased to 4 rocket engines produced per week. The production of Merlin engines was increased in order to keep up with larger launch vehicles.
