Siamese cats are characterized by color-point color (light coat with darker color on paws, muzzle, ears and tail). This color is a manifestation of incomplete albinism, called acromelanism. The action of acromelanism is associated with the temperature characteristics of a living organism: less pigment is produced in the warm parts of the body than in the cold ones, so the ears, paws, tail and muzzle are colored in a darker color compared to the rest of the body. With age, the contrast of points compared to the body may become smaller. After a year, most point-colored cats have a darkening on the body. Siamese kittens are born completely white, a few days after birth, the points begin to darken, the final color is set at 5-10 months.

Cats from the Siamese-oriental group are able to use their vocal cords, changing the key [source not specified 1143 days] and pitch to express their demands and feelings. They are easy to train.

Siamese cat

Breed of oriental cat

Article

The Siamese cat is one of the famous breeds of cats of the Siamese-Oriental group.

Appearance

The Siamese cat has a very characteristic appearance, the distinctive features of which are a thin, long, tube-shaped flexible body, a head in the form of a long wedge, large almond-shaped obliquely set eyes of bright blue color, very large ears, wide at the base and pointed at the ends, placed in such a way that an equilateral is formed between the nose lobe and the tips of the ears triangle. The coat is short, tightly fitting to the body, without undercoat. A very long whip-like tail, thin from the very base with a pointed long tip.

Siamese cats are characterized by color-point color (light coat with darker color on paws, muzzle, ears and tail). This color is a manifestation of incomplete albinism, called acromelanism. Personality

Active cats. They need attention, love physical contact. Sociable, affectionate and trusting.

Cats from the Siamese-oriental group are able to use their vocal cords, changing the key [source not specified 1143 days] and pitch to express their demands and feelings. They are easy to train.

Varieties

  • Balinese is a long—haired version of the Siamese cat.
  • Burmese is a breed of cats bred from the "Wong Mau" breed. Joseph Thompson discovered it in Burma in 1930. He brought her to California, where the Burmese cat breed was bred by crossing "Wong Mau" with Siamese.
  • Himalayan is a long—haired breed of cats bred by crossing Persian and Siamese cats.
  • Snow-shu is a creamy—white breed with blue eyes and some glasses, bred as a result of crossing a Siamese and a two-tone American shorthair cat in the 1960s.
  • Tonkinese is a breed of crossed Siamese and Burmese cats. Mating with this breed can produce kittens with a Burmese sepia pattern, Siamese color or Tonkin mink (which is a cross between the first two, with less contrast points than Siamese, but more than Burmese); often with blue eyes or aqua (average between blue and green).
  • Oriental shorthair — long slender body, refined backbone and strong musculature, wedge-shaped head, very large ears, thin long tail, many colors. In most countries, color-point cats are classified as Siamese. In the USA, Siamese refers only to cats whose all descendants in the pedigree are Siamese. The rest are classified as orientals, regardless of color.
  • Thai is an old—type exterior of a Siamese cat. Saved. Now it is separated into a separate breed.
