Serious Sam  : Siberian  Mayhem_ _ stand- alone add -on for the game Serious Sam 4 , developed by the Russian company Timelock Studio together with Croteam [1] . The publisher was Devolver Digital . The game takes place in Russia, engulfed in a war with an army of alien invaders led by Mental.

The add-on was announced on January 10, 2022 ; its release took place on January 25 of the same year

Gameplay

The game has several new levels with locations located on the Arctic coast, in dense forests, abandoned villages and a ghost town [4] . The game also features new types of weapons, including the Kalashnikov assault rifle and the experimental Perun crossbow, new enemies, bosses, and gadgets; new characters appeared [5] .

Plot

Serious Sam: Siberian Mayhem takes place in Russia, in the Siberian outback. The events unfold in the Serious Sam 4 universe , between the last two levels of the main game. The protagonist, Sam Stone, nicknamed " Cool Sam ", must get to Tunguska and stop the traitor and collaborator General Brand, who has taken possession of the Holy Grail [4] .

Development

The Siberian Mayhem add-on was developed by Timelock Studio. The studio was founded in 2021 in Russia and consists of longtime fans and creators of modifications to Serious Sam games [1] . The development was carried out under the supervision and with the support of the founders of the series, Croteam. The first hints of the game appeared in December 2021, when Devolver Digital published a short 34-second teaser video in which the protagonist Sam Stone was heading on a boat to the Arctic coast [6] . In January 2022, Devolver Digital re-published this video on their social media, announcing plans to announce and release a new game in the Serious Sam series that same month [7]. The official announcement of Siberian Mayhem took place on January 10, 2022, along with a full trailer for the game [5] .

The game was released on January 25, 2022 [8] .
