Nissan Skyline

Nissan Skyline - a brand of cars originally produced by Prince Motor Company, starting in 1957, and then by Nissan after the merger of the two companies in 1967. After the merger , the Skyline and its larger counterpart , the Nissan Gloria , were sold in Japan in dealer sales channels under the name Nissan Prince Shop .

Skyline was designed and engineered by Shinichiro Saka. urai has been around since its inception, and he remained a major influence on the car until his death in 2011.

Skylines are available in coupe or sedan body styles, as well as wagon, crossover, convertible and pickup/sedan body models supplied. Later models are best known for their trademark round brake and taillights (as of 1972). Although the Skyline was not sold in the United States before being imported as the Infiniti G, the popularity of the Skyline in video games, movies and magazines led to many such cars being imported there from 1989 to the end of 2005. Most Skyline models are rear-wheel drive, and all-wheel drive has been available since the debut of the eighth generation.

The eleventh-generation Skyline (V35) was another major turning point for the nameplate, as it stripped away some of the previous-generation Skyline's signature features, such as the inline-six engine (replaced with a V6) and turbocharging, and eventually split the GT-R into a separate line. Nissan decided to keep the Skyline for the luxury sports car market, and its platform partner, the 350Z, revived the Z line of pure sports cars. The V35 was the first Skyline intended for export to North America. In 2002 , it was sold under the luxury brand Nissan Infiniti as the G35 . Skyline (V36 / J50) is sold in Europe. North America, South Korea, Taiwan and the Middle East, as Infiniti G37 and EX respectively.

On April 12, 2010, an event entered into the Guinness Book of Records took place when 225 Skylines took part in the parade at the ISTS in Silverstone UK, which set two world records: the most recorded Nissan Skylines at one meeting, and the most Nissan Skylines on the track at the same time.

To date, 13 generations of this car have been released.
