The presentation took place on January 11, 2016 at the Detroit Auto Show. Unlike the previous generation, the new series is assembled on the basis of the MRA modular platform, has larger dimensions, is equipped with a variety of advanced safety and driver assistance systems (including autonomous driving and parking technology), as well as new and upgraded powertrains. Orders for the new model began to be accepted from January 18, 2016, the delivery of the first cars was planned in April of the same year [2]. On April 24, 2016, a sedan with an extended wheelbase was introduced at the Beijing International Auto Show. This version is exclusively for the Chinese market, manufactured in China by Beijing Benz Automotive Co., Ltd. and technically adapted to the needs of Chinese buyers.
