FroggyTalk, a Netherlands-based platform designed for Africans living abroad, has raised €300,000 in seed funding to advance its AI-powered communication and integration tools for the African diaspora. The round was led by the SI3 Fund of Shaping Impact Group, a Belgium-based impact investment firm focused on reducing inequalities and driving social inclusion through entrepreneurial innovation.

Founded in June 2023 and headquartered in The Hague, FroggyTalk offers an integrated platform that connects Africans overseas to their home communities while addressing everyday integration challenges. Its services include affordable, high-quality international calling solutions and a Radio Hub that aggregates African FM radio stations. The feature enables users to stay connected with their culture and follow local news and music programs as if they were at home.

The proceeds from the funding round will allow FroggyTalk to scale its operations, expand its international calling infrastructure, and enhance the platform with new AI-driven features tailored to the needs of African diaspora users. According to the company, the next stage of development will focus on deeper integration support for migrants—from digital documentation and legal assistance to financial tools and mental health resources.

FroggyTalk’s CEO and founder, Oluseyi Akinnibosun, described the investment as a pivotal moment in the company’s growth journey. “This investment is wind in our sails,” he said. “With SI3’s support, we are moving from simply connecting people through voice calls to solving deeper challenges migrants face daily, from documentation and legal support to financial inclusion and mental well-being.”

Dave Dirks, Partner at Shaping Impact Group, praised the startup’s vision, noting that it aligns with SI3’s mission to foster inclusion and social equality. “FroggyTalk’s mission aligns beautifully with our vision of reducing inequalities and promoting inclusion. By addressing both connectivity and integration challenges, the team is tackling one of the most persistent barriers to well-being for African communities in Europe,” Dirks stated.

Co-founder and Chief Technology Officer Henry Onyezi emphasized the technical goals supported by the investment, noting that it will enhance FroggyTalk’s AI infrastructure and improve user experience across the platform.

Since November 2024, FroggyTalk has been part of the We Are Changemakers incubator, where it has benefited from mentorship, partnerships within the Dutch social innovation ecosystem, and access to a community of impact-driven entrepreneurs. Additional backing from the Dutch New Narrative Lab (DNNL) has also been instrumental in shaping the company’s expansion and community impact strategy.

FroggyTalk’s growth has been notable within a short period. The platform’s community-first approach—anchored in cultural relevance, accessibility, and user trust—has attracted a loyal and expanding user base. A major recent milestone includes exceeding 3.6 million listening minutes on its Radio Hub, highlighting its role as both a technological bridge and a cultural link for Africans abroad.

The SI3 Fund, managed by Shaping Impact Group, combines elements of private equity, venture capital, and impact investing to back ventures that create measurable social value. Its portfolio emphasizes solutions in sustainability, justice, inclusion, and access to essential services. The fund’s partnership with FroggyTalk underscores growing investor confidence in mission-driven digital platforms that combine connectivity and social empowerment.

With the new funding, FroggyTalk plans to accelerate the rollout of its AI-based integration solutions and broaden its reach across Europe. The company’s vision extends beyond communication to holistic empowerment, ensuring Africans living abroad can stay connected to their roots while building meaningful lives in their host communities.
