FIAT (an acronym for Fabbrica Italiana Automobili Torino from Italian - “Italian Automobile Factory of Turin”) is an Italian car manufacturer (manufacturers of cars, engines), financial and industrial association. The headquarters is located in Turin (Piedmont region).
The Fiat Group was formed on February 1, 2007 from Fiat Auto S.p.A. Since January 1, 2011, the Fiat Group has been divided into two subsidiaries in two sectors: Fiat SpA (passenger vehicles) and Fiat Industrial (industrial vehicles).
In January 2014, after the consolidation of 100% of the shares of the American Chrysler, the Board of Directors of Fiat decided to create a new unified automotive company Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, headquartered in the Netherlands.
